Meet the Team

Science Saturday is founded and run entirely by volunteers! Check out our amazing group here.

Committee Members

A female-presenting person with red hair in a ponytail stands in their kitchen. They are wearing a grey hoodie which says 'Oneonta Red Dragons' with jeans, giving you two thumbs up.

Hannah Olds (she/they)
President and Planning Lead

Hannah grew up in New York State, where she studied her BSc in Physics and Mathematics. While studying, she worked as a physics tutor and at the local science centre. She moved to the UK in 2020, and eventually made her way to Aberdeen for her Medical Physics MSc. Her goal is to become a clinically qualified medical physicist, and use her passion for science to advance medicine and provide quality care for patients. Hannah developed Science Saturday shortly after graduating form the University of Aberdeen, as she wanted to find a way to bring her love of science into the community.

When she’s not working as a medical secretary during the week, you can probably find Hannah at a cafe reading a book somewhere in town. Otherwise, she’ll be at home watching TV or playing games with her family!

Peter Shaw (they/them)
Photographer and Creative Support

Peter is a nursing student with a passion for education who is always willing to help and excited to learn. Peter has a lot of volunteer experience, including through Phoenix Club at Inchgarth Community Centre, and loves to find ways to positively improve the lives of those with additional needs. If you are in need of a kind listening ear, Peter is your go-to person. They very much hope to help make everyone at Science Saturday feel welcome.

In their spare time, you can find Peter running D&D campaigns or practicing the guitar. Peter also loves anything and everything fantasy!
